Hague Deaf Resource Base Visitors!
Hague Deaf Resource Base have had some special visitors recently. Maxine, a deaf volunteer from Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, brought in her friendly assistance dog, Walter. They showed the children how Walter helps alert Maxine if an alarm goes off, someone calls her or there is a knock at the door. Maxine also showed us how she cares for Walter. The deaf children and their hearing friends got to give Walter doggy treats and practise some pet care skills, as well as asking thoughtful questions about how hearing dogs help people, where they are allowed to go and what their training is like.
