Starting School in September 2027
The policy and arrangements for all Nursery, Reception and In-Year admissions are set out in full on the Tower Hamlets website.
Nursery Admissions
It is now open to apply for our Stewart Headlam and Hague Nursery Provision.
Parents can register their child for nursery any time after the age of 2, names are kept on the waiting list.
Hague School and Stewart Headlam School have a shared Federation Nursery Class based at Hague Primary School. Wilmot Street, Bethnal Green E2 0BP.
Our single site nursery for the 2 schools provides for a maximum of 26 morning places and 26 afternoon places shared between Stewart Headlam and Hague Schools. This allows us to provide a more flexible offer for parents including:
- The universal 15hr (part-time) places and extended 15hrs (full-time) for eligible working parents with codes. You may request a full-time place once your child has been offered a part-time place, they are subject to availability, eligibility criteria and proof of HMRC codes.
- There are 3 admission points in the year; September, January and April. Children start nursery in the term after they turn 3 years old.
- Our nursery currently has vacancies for January 2026 and April 2026, use the E-admission Portal to apply for a place if your child is 2 or 3 years old, call the school office, and the school will be happy to advise and support applications.
- If your child has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) then you must contact the Local Authority’s Special Educational Needs (SEN) team to access a nursery place. You can contact the SEN team on 020 7364 4880.
Nursery places are allocated on LA agreed admissions criteria; Special educational needs, Siblings in school, Distance from home to school. - Parents are notified of a nursery offer by letter in the term prior to the child’s entry to nursery. Once parents have accepted the nursery place offer, admission forms are completed, home visits are planned by the Nursery Class Teacher and Nursery Nurse as part of our home school welcome transition.
- We do our best to accommodate parental preferences for am or pm places but this is not always possible.
- Children can start as soon as possible after they are 3 years old. Admissions are therefore staggered.
- Most children who attend our nursery will be able to transfer to Hague Reception Class or Stewart Headlam Reception Class if parents wish. This has many benefits in terms of continuity. However it is not an automatic transfer, parents must apply for the Reception places, see below.

Reception Admissions - September 2027
Hague School is a one form entry school, we admit 30 children reaching the age of 5 between the 1st September and following 31st August to the Reception Class.
Application for a September 2027 start opens from September 2026. Admissions are managed by Tower Hamlets Local Authority.
Parents should now apply as soon as possible for Reception places using the E-admission Portal

In-Year Admissions
In-Year Admissions You can apply for in-year admission if:
- you are moving house to Tower Hamlets, or moving house in Tower Hamlets and your child cannot continue at their school
- your child is being educated at home and you want them to attend a mainstream school instead
- your child is already at school, but you want to move them to a different school
- you are without a nursery place and you want to apply for a place.

SEN Application for Hague School’s Deaf Resource Base (DRB) for children who are deaf or partially hearing.
Hague is an inclusive school with a Deaf Resource Base for children who have moderate to severe hearing loss. The children are auditory aural learners. We have capacity for up to 16 children across Nursery– Year 6. Children are usually referred to Hague DRB via Tower Hamlets Special Needs Team. The child’s EHCP states attending a DRB.
The children are fully integrated into the mainstream classes supported by Qualified Teachers of the Deaf and Teaching Assistants. Children have access to a Speech Therapist in school. The mainstream setting is most suitable for children who are auditory aural learners able to access learning through spoken word.
Please note we do not provide signed provision for teaching. Culloden Primary School in Tower Hamlets has a signing provision for deaf children.
Parents considering a place at Hague should visit the school to discuss their application with the Teachers of the Deaf /Inclusion Manager before completing the Tower Hamlets Common Application Form CAF for a nursery or primary place.
