Charging for School Activities

The school plans off site visits or hosts Music, Dance, Drama workshops to enhance learning. However, there are times when the cost cannot be fully covered by the school. Voluntary contributions will be required to ensure that the activity takes place.

The Governors have agreed that some of the school’s ‘Pupil Premium Funding’ is used to support a range of School Learning Activities; including Off Site Visits, Educational Workshops which enhance the children’s knowledge and understanding of the world, cultural, social, academic experiences.

On the 1st April 1989 it became illegal to charge for school activities which largely take place in school time. However sometimes this means that worthwhile activities cannot take place without financial assistance from parents/carers. Section 118 of the Education Reform Act does not restrict schools from seeking voluntary contributions for the benefit of the school or any school activity. The following is our charging policy.

School Travel Plan

We encourage all families and children to walk to school and make use of public transport where possible

Finnis Street is now a 1 way street, after all our campaigning to reduce congestion. 

• We ask all parents to respect the road line markings around the school and not drop off children outside the school gates.                                                                                                                                                      
• Parking on the corner of Finnis Street or by the school gates blocks the safe places for pupils and their families to cross, which is a serious cause for concern for governors, parents and pupils.

Please park responsibly, away from the school gate and walk a short distance into school for the safety and well being of all.

• Governors continue to work to improve pedestrian safety around school as part of the school’s Travel Plans.
• The school has space for bikes and scooters so that staff and pupils can cycle or scoot to school.  

The school uses public transport where possible for all off-site education visits from Nursery to Year 6.

Private coaches are only booked for long distance residential trips or visits beyond easy accessible reach of Transport for London. 

We have access to Swanlea Mini-bus for small group visits locally in and around London 

All pupils from Nursery to Year 6 learn to ride a range of bikes at Hague. 

• In KS2 pupils have cycle training and road safety awareness to develop their cycling skills and stay safe. 
• In KS2 children learn how to ride safely on the local roads.
